Serve Receive

Serve receive is the most important skill to control the game. To consistently pass to a target, we focus on three factors.

Read - understanding the angle, trajectory, speed, and spin of the ball. There are 7 different passing techniques, and the read tells us which one to use.

Early Set Platform - the platform angle needs to be set early as still as possible through contact, NO SWINGING THE ARMS!

Timed Footwork- - Once the platform is set, you will know what to do with your feet. The legs allow you to push into the ball, which gives the ball the force needed to get it to the target. Because of the push into the ball the feet will move through contact, not stay still.

***Struggling Passers usually hurry to get to the ball, stop their feet, and move their platform into the ball. They do this because that's what they are taught. It's NOT what the best passers do! Your platform has to be angled towards the target for the ball to go there. If your platform is moving, it's not always on your target, so the results are all over the place.

On the video below notice how the pros move their feet through the ball!
